Out Beyond Ideas of Wrong-doing and Right-doing There is a Field ... Rumi meets Nidra

"Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing,
there is a field. I'll meet you there.

When the soul lies down in that grass,
the world is too full to talk about.
Ideas, language, even the phrase "each other" doesn't make any sense."

Rumi

Rumi has been a favourite poet of mine since we 'met'. Was it the handwritten poem shared by a fellow backpacker in Turkey or the letter from my poetry loving university soul sistah or the poem read at the end of the meditation retreat in Northern India? Hmmm, I do know that there was a ring of ... truth (?) to his writing for me from the start. His poems made my eyes soften and my breath deepen - It was feeling of ... home ... love?

Well, I have heard this here poem a thousand times but tonight when I saw it again after not seeing it for a couple years it touched me in a different way. This time I am not an outsider reading a lovely metaphorical poem - this time I am sharing an understanding, an experience ... with Rumi.

In my journey of healing and embracing wholeness I have just realized that I have visited the field (!), am starting to remember in more often during my days and have carved a pathway back to it that is there for me 24-7. It is our state of 'being' that he is talking about. If you've seen me recently I have shown you one, easy way to enter this 'field' for yourself through paying attention to felt sensations. It is this  field of being that we tap into and this state truly is a place where the drama and duality of our thinking minds melts away. It leaves a lot of space for our felt sense of being ... of rest ... of home ... to be experienced.

Yoga nidra is just one practice that is making this - our home ground of being - accessible so easily to us all. I am so grateful for the ease of this simple, nourishing guided meditation tool and how it's helping the women I work with to come back to themselves.

From this place of connection to our being we start to navigate the world from a place of knowing that whatever the current situation at hand is, at our core we are perfect, whole and complete and that deep stillness is our true nature.  Ahhhh. Thank you Rumi, thank you Nidra ... we have all that we need ... right now ...

yes, ummm, (I hear another part of my mind chiming in!) EXCEPT that let's be sensible and not forget that I do NEED to get a hold of some tickets to Ed Sheeran's sold-out July concerts  ... right ... well .... that's of course true too ..... (-:
